Distinguish between Ice cream and Frozen Dessert

 

According to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), ice cream is made by freezing a pasteurized mix consisting of milk and/or milk-derived products, with or without added sweeteners, fruits, eggs, and other ingredients.

On the other side, FSSAI distinguishes frozen dessert as a product created by freezing a pasteurized mix made primarily with edible vegetable oils or fats, or vegetable protein products. It may also include milk fat and solids, along with sweeteners and other permitted non-dairy ingredients.

In simpler terms, while ice cream relies on milk-based ingredients, frozen desserts can incorporate vegetable-based components, providing a variety of options for dessert lovers to enjoy.
